Hope is not an excuse to lower the bar.
The Goodwire is a positive-news publication, but positivity does not replace verification, context or transparency.
Verify before we publish.
Stories should be supported by credible primary or reputable secondary sources. When a claim cannot be verified, it should not be presented as fact.
Do not manufacture positivity.
We will not twist a tragic event into a cheerful headline. If hardship is necessary context, we will say so plainly. The constructive or hopeful part of the story must be real.
Show readers where the information came from.
Articles should identify and link their important sources whenever practical so readers can see the basis for the reporting.
Correct mistakes clearly.
If we materially get something wrong, we should fix it and make the correction visible rather than quietly pretending the error never happened.
Advertising must look like advertising.
Paid or sponsored material must be plainly labeled and visually distinct from editorial stories. The Goodwire will not design advertisements to trick readers into believing they are news.
Keep The Goodwire Kids ad-free.
The children's section is intended as a calm place for stories and printable activities, not a place to market to children.
Clarity over clicks.
No misleading headlines, fake urgency, or clutter designed only to keep someone tapping. A reader should always know what they are opening.
